Receiving Support

Support can come in all sorts of forms. In what ways have your friends, family, or others been supportive of you during your MS journey?

In a few sentences, describe how others have made a positive impact on your multiple sclerosis journey.

  1. not very well

    1. I to this day seem to struggle with support from family and friends. It's hard for people to acknowledge something they can't see. I just recently wrote an article that answers your question.

    2. same

  2. I get most of my support from online sources it’s easier for me to talk with people who are going through the same things and the online experience is 24-7 365 days which is better than waking up my wife

    1. I wish my husband would understand more. 😔🙏🏼

    2. sending gentle hugs.

  3. I have only one person to share this journey with and she has not been very supportive at all. I am afraid to ask her for anything for fear that she'll say no. Like she just did.

    1. , I'm sorry the person in your life doesn't seem very supportive. I know it's not the same, but please know this community is here for you 24/7.

It's hard to put yourself out there and ask for something only to be rejected. I hope you are pleasantly surprised this year with new people in your life that can be supportive and understanding.

    2. so many people in our community would echo your comments about wishing that the people who are closest to them would "step up" in offering assistance. While it's understandably hard for those people in our life - even with a front row seat - to truly understand the reality of living with MS, having a little more compassion, support or even tangible help with some simple tasks would be really nice.
