New here. Hello

Im new here
MS dX: 2008
Have been fighting this monster since day one.
I wont get into many details now...it's overwhelming but im wondering if anyone here has ever felt they had any cardiac related issues due to MS only to find out its not cardiac but sure feels like it
Pain on one side of chest which will come and go
I've been to the emergency room three times regarding this and it never relates back to anything cardiac they chalked it up to anxiety due to MS but somethings bothering me about it unless maybe it is anxiety I just wondered if anyone could offer their thoughts on this
Lab work comes back great in terms of not being anything cardiac cardiac enzymes normal troponins normal but I do have a Lotta problems with keeping vitamin D normal and severe anemia
My BP is high when at the ER or doc appointment but then stabilizes. I think it's my nervousness because I hate going to the doctor
I do notice I have issues with my heart rate going up out of nowhere and then it comes down to normal this happens periodically.
Now the pain I feel in my side I'm wondering if this could also be damaged nerves from this monster MS correct?
Thank you so much for everyone's time I promise to write more soon
❤️

  1. , hello and welcome! I am so glad you took the time to share a small part of your MS story with the community!

I am so sorry you have been experiencing intermittent chest pain. Have your physicians ever mentioned the MS hug? You can read about it here -- https://multiplesclerosis.net/living-with-ms/everybody-love-a-hug-but-not-ms-hugs-what-are-they. You might want to check out the dozens of member comments at the end of the piece. It will definitely show you that you are not alone in experiencing very painful, very odd chest pains.

While I don't want to say that this is definitely what you are dealing with, your story does sound like many others within this community. And it sounds like you and your physician have already looked at a rejected a number of diagnoses.

The MS Hug may not fully address the increases in heart rate you occasionally experience, so if that symptom worsens, I would bring it to your physician's attention again.

I hope this information is helpful for you and that you also get some feedback from other community members.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have more questions -- we're happy to help in any way we can.

    1. I too experienced the same and had test run although my blood pressure is low normally. From time to time the MS hug is around the entire chest. Watch your spicy foods for a while and your doctor may want to put you on some antacid. We are so unfortunate in that our symptoms are so varied that it could be anything! Good luck, Erin!

  2. Hi @StarryNight19 and welcome to the community! We have lots of great resource and supportive people here. Just shoot one a message to a moderator or an advocate if you ever have trouble finding something. It sounds like you have been through an awful lot. I am glad you have ruled out cardiac issues in relation to your chest pain. Are you familiar with the MS Hug? it is very painful and very real chest and rub pain that is often experienced by people with MS. Here is an article that explains it: https://multiplesclerosis.net/symptoms/ms-hug. There are treatments that can help. If you feel your pain might be due to the MS Hug, maybe you can bring a copy of this article to your doctor and work together to provide some relief. I hope this helps. Best wishes! - Lori (Team Member)
