I have been on a PPO plan for last ten years. This has allowed me to travel out of my small county and see Drs of my choice at the University of California, Davis in Sacramento, CA.
We live quite rural with my partner and a westie, and miniature poodle. We live outside of Volcano, CA pop 101. Mom lives 15 miles away, who we visit often.
Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis is my main problem, except its end stage, and I am on oxygen 24x7.
Recently reaserching , I find that DHCS is transferring ALL patients to a HMO plan, which my Drs do not take. They sent no notice, so being sneaky in these small counties. People will go to a HMO plan in 2013.
Now nobody in our county takes a HMO, so you would need to cross county lines. A problem, as the zip code you live in will prevent you from seeing a HMO provider, like Kaiser Hospital, or others.
Stuck yet?
There are medical exemptions, like if you are having a limb transplant, dialysis, kidney replacement, heart replacement. I think on page 6, I found A exemption for MS.
I quickly downloaded the six websites that took me to a downloaded form. I sent all this info and signed the report, sending it onto my GP.
A exemption, quite lengthly, per my 24 specialist, notes, and a lot of info the GP has to sign, write, and turn into DHCS. They can still say NO.
This will have to be done yearly, according to their website.
So just a heads up, even if you do not get their note, you will be changed. This could be detrimental for me.
Check to see how this effects you and your conditions before January 2023, so your not shocked that your Dr does not take your plan.
Joey
