Advice

I really feel crappy. My bones hurt. My muscles hurt. My brain is all 'KMAGYOYO' and I'm tired and wired. I can't sleep and I can't stay awake. I have a headache. I can't breathe cuz of the Flomax, and I can't relax cuz of the modafinil.

Any advice on how to navigate this low spot? All suggestions welcome.

  1. , ugh. I hate when it's just one of those 'crappy' days. 🙁

I don't have any great words of wisdom to get you through the low spot you are in right now, but if I did, I would share them with you.

When I have a low spot, I tend to focus on distraction, distraction, distraction! Whatever I can do to take my mind off the pain, fatigue, insomnia, etc, etc. For me, that generally looks like bingeing some TV shows; either familiar favorites or something new to keep me focused. If I am not in too much pain, I like to read or do word searches (old fashioned paper ones!) or I'll do word games on my phone. Sometimes, calling a good friend or my mom helps.

Sometimes, the best we can do is just ride out a low spot until we find ourselves on higher ground, if that makes sense.

I do hope you are able to get some relief today. And I hope you have found your own way to hang in there until you're feeling a bit better.

    1. Thanks ,

Distraction is a great idea. Gonna binge something smart and funny - it's a toss-up between The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Teenage Bounty Hunters.

      Don't judge me .. lol.

I also think that an MS diagnosis should come with an automatic qualification to write your own prescriptions. I could do with a chemically induced timeout right now. Those 3 magic words: AT, I, and VAN. A man can dream.

      Anyone have success with sauna?

    2. , heck, I am not judging you at all, but I AM admiring your great taste in shows! Seriously!

And I hear you about the prescriptions. Wouldn't that be nice . . . and save time??

  2. Ahahaha!

So, it was COVID! A interesting reminder that in spite of the vagaries of MS, there's still stuff that can make you feel worse.

I'd like to thank the brave men and women of Skip the Dishes for keeping my family full of tacos and salads and falafel. You are true pandemic heroes.

And of course my wife and her closet full of gypsy potions. L, I love you more than I hate elderberry. Sorry about infecting you with The 'Vid.

    1. yeah, this is my first bout too. Most of my peers are on round 2 or 3. I'm feeling much better and hope you are as well. The first 2 days were the worst and the last 4 were just a lot of napping. Unfortunately my wife got whacked a little harder, but she's finally turning around too.

I'm about to test again, but my intuition says I'll test clear.

    2. I am feeling much better, , and I am glad you and your wife are feeling better as well. I hope researchers find a vaccinate that can really put an end to this virus. Fingers cross that your test is negative! - Lori (Team Member)
