Raising 2 Beautiful Children by Yourself and MS
I was diagnosed in October of 2010 with Multiple Sclerosis. I have been blessed with 2 wonderful children, Deanna is 16 and Michael is 10. I've been single for a little over a year and I don't know if I could have done it without the support of my children, family and friends.
Deanna is my biggest suporter. She has been forced to grow up and help take care of her mother, that's a lot for a 16 year old. Whenever I need her, she does her best to help me. I had my daughter when I was 20 and people say, that was too young. I believe I had her for a reason. Not only is she beautiful, sweet, smart, and responsible, she works hard to take care of her Mom. Michael does his best to help, he does what he can for being 10. I have 2 wonderful children who keep me going everyday. They are my reason for living and getting out of bed every morning. I know I was given this challenging disease for a reason.
My ex-husband did not handle the news of my diagnosis well. He would call me lazy and say I'm using my disease as an excuse to keep from cleaning and working. He did not see the truth of what was going on with me and was in denial that I had anything wrong with me. He was even with me when the doctor gave me my diagnosis. Don't let anyone make you feel bad for being sick. He tried and I said "No Sir!" and we broke up. Being on my own was the best decision I ever made. Don't be afraid, BE HAPPY!
For those of you recently diagnosed with MS, please be optimistic. You may feel alone at times but there is always someone there for you.
Remember the positive things in life and let that drive you to be more active and keep smiling.
Remember a smile is only a happy thought away!
