Loss of Bowels Control

I have been living with uncontrollable bowels (Explosive Diarrhea with NO Warning) for over a year. I can't go no where. I have NO life anymore. I take 16 Imodium Multi-Symptoms Tablets at 1 time twice a day & still have "Explosive Diarrhea" - I want it to STOP! - I want My Life Back! Is it Possible to "Stop the Diarrhea"?

I have been going through the same thing for I don't know how long. I'll be doing fine and, all of a sudden, I have nonstop diarrhea. I hadn't a clue that it was going on until I went to the bathroom and discovered that I had ruined another pair of underwear. I then have to change my Depends during the day for sometimes almost a week. I feel like I have gone back to the 30 years of monthly periods all over again (and I'm in my 60s)! I have been trying to take the OTC anti-diarrhea tablets pretty much daily. There have been times when I really wanted to do something or be with people and had to cancel because of my overabundance of diarrhea. Like you, I would like to get my life back again.

You got me thinking. In 1994, I had daily diarrhea. This was before I was diagnosed. It was a constant concern. It prompted me to seek counseling and I was diagnosed with anxiety and irritable bowel. I learned to relax through meditation tapes and it became less of an issue. Now, I occasionally have it. I take Prozac and daily probiotics. I think probiotics are important, especially if you are on multiple medications that can mess up the flora in your gut. So to sum up. Treat your mental health and your physical health. They are SO interrelated., especially in your gut.
