Joy and Tears
Toward the end of my second pregnancy, I kept falling forward onto my belly. The nurses in the maternity ward always giggled when I came through the door. "Back so soon?!"
"Yes. I fell again," I'd say, frustrated by my own clumsiness.
They'd bring me over for more ultrasounds, just to be sure my baby was uninjured. I was lucky; in November of 2011, my healthy boy was born.
During the next few weeks, though, by balance didn't return. I casually mentioned to my father-in-law (who, luckily, was neurologist), who then sent me in for MRIs, "just to be safe."
The results indicated that I had lesions in several areas of my brain, and so, after a gamut of other tests and blood draws, it was determined that I had MS.
