A Rocky but Amazing Journey

I was diagnosed with MS in the summer of 2009 at the age of 32. I began my journey with a general neurologist. I was absolutely miserable for about the first year and a half. I had constant numbness, tingling, fatigue... couldn't tolerate summer at all. The heat just made everything worse.

I decided to try and find a specialist and that was when my life started to get better than I could have hoped. They switched me to Gilenya and I saw immediate improvement. I also started exercising and was able to do P90X and ended up losing about 60 lbs. Once the weight came off, the symptoms went with it. In 2013 I decided to take up running. I have been blessed to be able to thrive since coming to the Augusta MS clinic. I've participated in 25 half marathons since 2013 and I have another one coming up at the end of March. I realize that I am the exception rather than the rule but I am here to tell you that there is hope. The right doctors and the right medication make all the difference.
