My Story: Carolyn

On May 1st of 2010 I was about to get off work about 4am, I went to make signs on the computer at work and when I got to the computer I couldn't remember what to do. I did finally figure out what to do (it only took about 30 minutes instead of 15)

Over the next few weeks my left eye started drooping, the left side of my face went numb and I started slurring my speech.

My insurance kicked in on the 16th, so on Monday after work I called my GP Dr and the nurse came back and told me to go straight to the hospital. So when I got to the hospital they did a cat scan and the Dr came back and said I had to lesions on my brain that concerned him.

Since they did not have a neurologist on staff at that hospital at that time they sent me to another hospital in town. At that hospital they had a brain surgeon and an oncologist waiting for me. They thought I might have either had a stroke or maybe a brain tumor.

After 3 days they did a spinal tap and it came out that I had MS. What ever they test he said if it would have been a 4 I would have been border-line MS. My count was 12, definite MS. Gave me steroids for 3 days and I got to go home. Started Gilenya in Sept 2010 and haven't had a episode since.
