I’m in my mid-50s and have been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis for over a decade. It continues to progress and create new challenges but I continue to take on those challenges and fight harder in order to continue to enjoy life despite all these obstacles.
I have the greatest son in the world and some of the most amazing friends you can imagine, And, I get so much inspiration from being a coach for kids who have physical and/or mental challenges.
Never taking abilities or people for granted
I consider myself to be very very fortunate because MS reminds us that our ability to perform simple tasks could be taken away from us at any moment, so taking abilities OR PEOPLE for granted is a huge mistake. We should all be so grateful for what we are capable of and for those people in our lives who care about us.
Adapting and continuing to enjoy life
No, we can’t ignore the pain and difficulties that this illness causes us but we can adapt and continue to enjoy what life has to offer us. As it’s been written, our futures have not been decided so we should each strive to create our own futures.
Be strong, accept help when you really need it, and enjoy our small, victories as much as the big things in life.
