What is the best answer for "oh you look so good"?

Wow, Myjohn7elway! That's a very good question! I know some of our members tend to try to say nothing or have a diplomatic response. Others choose to come back with slightly snarky or sarcastic comebacks. It really varies from person to person. Some of our members say that most people are well-meaning when they say such things. It's like they don't know what to say, so they say the wrong thing. Others are blindsided by these comments in situations like when they are using their handicap placards for parking. I don't think there is a right answer in this situation. You have to decide for yourself what is the best thing to say. This week's poll question is similar. Oh, you look so good, or but you do not look sick are too sides to the same comment. For, me it depends on the situation. I have only had that comment from strangers once when I was getting out of my car in a handicapped spot. I was so flustered, I didn't know what to say. I had my legally blind friend with me, so I said,
"She is blind and I have MS so we are allowed to park here."

But, when well meaning people make that comment, I just say Thank you.

Try "just think how good I'd look without MS".

If they mean well by it I say thanks. If not, however, I fire back with something like, "and you look like you might be intelligent, but we both know that's not true." Ya, I have a tendency to be an a$$.
