I've always loved reading! It's allowed me to travel through time and around the world. I chose a legal career with considerable page turning and was in two book clubs before MS. Now reading regular print or much more than an email makes me nauseous. A few years ago, I discovered the National Library Service (NLS). It's a free audiobook service for people with impaired vision, blindness, or a physical, perceptual, or reading disability that prevents them from using regular print materials. Through a national network of cooperating libraries, NLS circulates books and magazines in audio formats, that are instantly downloadable to a personal device or delivered by mail free of charge. This amazing service allows me to once again read as much as I want. I was even able to increase my social contacts by starting a neighborhood book club. NLS also sponsors special events such as writing contests. Last year I won first place for a short story! As they say at the library, check it out!
