Ocrevus (Ocrelizumab)

Hi everybody ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ my husband was diagnosed with MS three months ago and doctors are suggesting Ocrevus (Ocrelizumab) as treatment. I've read lots of testimonies and reviews from patients but is difficult to have an opinion when every case is so different. That's why I want to ask you a few questions that allow me to understand your position more objectively towards this medication:

1. For how long have you been getting Ocrevus?
2. Did you use another treatment before Ocrevus?
3. How severe were your MS symptoms before Ocrevus?
4. Are your MS symptoms better after using Ocrevus?
5. As someone who uses a strong immunosuppressant, how would you say your life has changed after taking this medication? Besides your MS symptoms, are you feeling ok? Do you have to take extra measures to avoid other diseases while using Ocrevus?

Thank your kind help.

  1. Hi . Welcome to the community! Your husband is fortunate that you are so supportive and willing to reach out on his behalf. I hope you get lots of responses from to these questions It is hard to predict how your husband will react to Ocrevus if he does decide to take it because no two cases of MS are ever alike. One person might do wonderfully on Ocrevus while someone else feels better without medication or on a different medication. The only way to know for certain is to try it. Here is an article from one of our advocates whose husband takes Ocrevus for PPMS: https://multiplesclerosis.net/caregiver/immunosuppression-ocrevus. She offers a lot of great information that I thought might interest you. If you search our archives for Ocrevus using the search box at the top of the page, you will find more articles and forum posts with both negative and positive experiences. I hope this helps and that you get some good information. Best of all wishes! - Lori (Team Member)
