MS Hug (But NOT in your torso)

I was diagnosed by my (incredible) neurologist with "MS Hug of the LEG".
Correctly diagnosed in 2006 due to an optic neuritis stack, I definitely have my share of symptoms, but I've been fortunate enough to not know what "The MS Hug“ is exactly,. I've definitely heard people describe a "MS Hug", but it has never been a symptom of mine!
When the gripping feeling started in my left calf/shin, it was like having some kind of metal grip things perfectly shaped to my leg, from knee to ankle. And it would tighten itself frequently!
I described it as best I could to my neurologist, and I brought up the idea of the MS Hug. After doing a few tests she said that I was, in fact, experiencing the "MS Hug" but she would call it "MS Hug of the "Leg". My pregablin dose was doubled to 4 pills a day and it seems to be working so far!
Has anyone else here experienced the MS Hug in a different body part than the torso,?

  1. Hi I am so glad you have a great doctor who is helping you and the increased pregablin is giving you relief. I wanted to send over this article about spasticity. This term refers to stiffness and muscle spasms resulting from problems with the nerves that control movement, it is most common in the legs: https://multiplesclerosis.net/living-with-ms/spasticity. I hope this is helpful and there are some treatment suggestions as well. Jill (Team Member)
