Is Ocrelizumab a good medication?

I have relapsing MS and currently on tecfidera. My Doctor will be placing me on ocrelizumab intravenously next month which will require me to be admitted to the hospital. Has anyone had problems with this type of medication?

  1. First off, my apologies for the delayed response to your question, EvanMS. As you already know, each person responds uniquely to treatment and what works for one person may not work as well for another.

Here is an interview with a woman that had great success with ocrelizumab -- https://multiplesclerosis.net/living-with-ms/ocrevus-patients-story/. Also, here is an interview with one of the researchers for this particular treatment -- https://multiplesclerosis.net/living-with-ms/ocrelizumab-exclusive-interview-with-pioneering-researcher-dr-peter-chin/.

This drug does some with some potential serious side effects, which you should discuss with your physician, if you haven't already done so. You can read more about Ocrelizumab here -- https://multiplesclerosis.net/treatment/ocrevus-how-well-works-side-effects/.

As I am sure you know, each treatment option comes with a list of pros and cons and in the end, only you can decide what is best for you and your body.

Best of luck and please come back and update us on how you are doing, if you feel comfortable doing so!

    Best, Erin, MultipleSclerosis.net Team Member.

    1. We’ve had two infusions so far without any type of reaction or side effects. We go in for MRI’s next week to see what the lesions look like now but he’s had no new or worsening symptoms so far since starting Ocrevus in December.
