A physiatrist is suggesting Botox injections for leg spasticity. Has anyone had success with this treatment?

Hi, CommunityMemberf917c7!
In addition to what Kim wrote, I wanted to add that Botox injections have been FDA-approved for treating spasticity for conditions like MS, Parkinson's, and Cerebral Palsy, among other conditions. It can take a few days post-injection to start feeling the effects of the medication and, generally speaking, the effects can last 3-4 months. I hope you get helpful input from other community members that may have tried Botox for their spasticity. Best, Erin, MultipleSclerosis.net Team Member.

I’ve had Botox injections. I had injections every three months, total of three treatments. I had at least 10 to 20 injections during each treatment. The first time was for my neck and it worked. I am currently getting injections for my left foot. Not very much success. I’ve had two treatments, I get my third one soon. I’m hoping the third time will work. For me the injections hurt. But not everyone has the same experience. For me it was worth the pain to feel relief from the spasticity.

I had Botox injections for spasticity in the scapular area of my back. For me, it worked wonders, lasted long enough for the spasticity episode to pass (weeks). I had this done 20ys ago, just when they were beginning to think of using Botox for more than cosmetic uses.
